Gelatin Is A Natural Remedy for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Is gelatin a natural remedy for rheumatoid arthritis?  Gelatin is a natural remedy for rheumatoid arthritis which is safe, has few side effects and it is relatively inexpensive. This article explains how gelatin is used as a simple and safe natural remedy.

Gelatin is a protein containing amino acids that are part of the components of connective tissue including cartilage. The theory in its use is that gelatin can help reduce the swelling that occurs in joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This can thus relieve the pain caused by the swollen joints and therefore gelatin is a natural remedy for rheumatoid arthritis.

In a Harvard study of patients with long-term rheumatoid arthritis, a heaping tablespoon of gelatin was given to 29 patients daily resulting in arthritis remission within 90 days for 28 out of the 29 patients.

Gelatin can usually be taken safely, rarely causing only a few people upset stomachs. Gelatin is a natural remedy used daily in a dose of one heaping tablespoon mixed into water or juice along with Vitamin C if preferred.

Hello! Peter R. here. While I was researching a different disease I discovered a similarity with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was amazed at some of the medicines prescribed – particularly the side effects! Right then I needed to find out more and how to avoid those pages upon pages of (yuck) side effects! I’m sharing more here.

Uncover the truth about green lipped mussel arthritis treatments!

Are you sick and tired of arthritis and joint pain? Well then perhaps it’s time you tried the cure.

It seems to me that every few years or so there’s some new study that finds additional health benefits to eating green lipped mussels, the famous miracle food that grows along the coast of New Zealand. I suppose that one of the reasons for this is that this organic food is made up of some of the most useful substances and nutrients that the human body needs.

Perhaps the most famous effect of green mussels is its ability to prevent and reduce the symptoms of rheumatism. Of course, it all started decades ago, when certain scientists and researchers noticed that there was an abnormally low incidence of arthritis among the Maori people who subsisted largely on a diet of green lipped mussels.

Whereas some might argue that perhaps one of the reasons for their good health was that they lived a very natural life style, nevertheless the incidence of arthritis being so low was proved to have a definite connection with the amount of green lipped mussels in their diets.

Where Can I Find Info On Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis? – Find Out What The Experts Are Saying

More than 2.5 million people suffer from rheumatoid arthritis in the United States alone. A very common question that I often come across is — where can I find info on treating rheumatoid arthritis? Find out the expert answer of this important question in this article.

The Internet is an excellent place where you can find information on treating rheumatoid arthritis. This can help you in many ways and will also give you greater education on its symptoms, so that you can ask questions intelligently to your doctor regarding treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Here is an in depth analysis on the symptoms and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

The general symptoms that are associated with the occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis are –

– Muscle pain
– Swollen glands
– Weakness
– Fatigue
– Loss of appetite
– Joint pains
– Limited range of movement
– Deformities in the hands and feet
– Morning stiffness

Here are some of the common treatment methods used for treating rheumatoid arthritis –

1) Cox-2 inhibitors — Cox-2 is an enzyme in our body that increases the level of inflammation, and this worsens rheumatoid arthritis. Cox-2 inhibitors block this enzyme called Cox-2 and provide relief in arthritis symptoms.

Although it is effective in the short term, it also suffers from serious side effects and health risks. For example, Vioxx is a Cox-2 inhibitors brand that was manufactured by Merck, had to be removed from the market after various studies showed that it increased the risk of strokes and heart attacks. In fact, thousands of lawsuits are pending against it.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms- this is was you need to know

Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms- this is was you need to know

There are many rheumatoid arthritis symptoms but many are over looked because they aren’t that severe at first. Before we explain what rheumatoid arthritis symptoms are let’s first ask the question what is arthritis? The basic definition of arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. The inflammation occurs because the joints are in pain, therefore the joints swell up trying to heal and protect the damaged joints.

What are joints?

The joints in the body are where two bones meet that will bring about bending for movement purposes. For example your elbow, your knee and shoulder are all joint bones. The first attack of rheumatoid arthritis is usually in the hands (1% of Americans suffer from arthritis in hands), fingers or wrist. Why? Because arthritis typically starts off with the smallest joints in the body first and then it moves on to some of the larger joints. Such as your knees, shoulders, neck and elbows.

The two major signs that a person may be suffering from rheumatoid arthritis are swelling of the joints and pain in the joints. The level of pain can vary depending on how severe the arthritis is but this is the tricky part of arthritis. In its early stages the pain and the swelling can come and go at will. Sometimes the pain and swelling will last for two weeks and then disappear for months. This is why I mentioned earlier that many people will miss diagnose themselves because the pain and swelling have went away. If you have ever experienced arthritis in hands, wrist or any other small joint you should set an appointment with your doctor to be diagnosed. You should do this just to make sure that you are not suffering from RA.

Unfortunately at this time there is no cure for RA but there are treatments. So if a person is diagnosed with RA there is still hope. Rheumatoid arthritis treatment usually consists of medicinal agents (medicine). There are 3 types of drugs that are use to help the fight against RA:  Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents, Corticosteroids, and Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs. These drugs work best when the disease is diagnosed in its early stages. This is why I mentioned earlier that if you have experienced the symptoms to set up an appointment with your doctor because there are rheumatoid arthritis treatments that can help you.

To learn more about RA symptoms I found that this website http://www.rheumatoid-arthritissymptoms.com/ was very helpful. Here’s another link that will inform you on the different treatments for Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment.

Why Is Vitamin D So Important?

In the last 20 years, there has been tremendous research in the field of vitamin D. The findings are astounding! We now know that vitamin D affects almost every organ system in the body. New Scientific Research Links Vitamin D Deficiency to Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Kidney Disease, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Lupus, M.S., Asthma, Thyroid Diseases, Dental Problems and Depression.

We now know that:

  1. Vitamin D plays a vital role in the health of muscles and bones. It not only helps in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestines, but it also exerts a direct effect on the health of the bones. Therefore, vitamin D can prevent as well as treat muscle aches, bone pains, chronic fatigue and osteoporosis.
  1. Vitamin D plays a vital role in the normal functioning of the immune system. Therefore, vitamin D can prevent as well as treat immune disorders such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, Type 1 diabetes, Crohn’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). By boosting up your immunity, it can also protect you against infections such as common colds and tuberculosis.
  1. Vitamin D controls the growth of normal as well as cancerous cells. Hence, vitamin D can play an important role in the prevention as well as treatment of various cancers especially cancer of the colon, prostate, pancreas and breast.
  1. Vitamin D stimulates the production of insulin from insulin – producing cells in the pancreas. It also reduces insulin resistance. Therefore, vitamin D can help in the prevention as well as treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
  1. Vitamin D inhibits the Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System (RAAS). Renin is a chemical normally produced in the body. It leads to the production of another chemical, called Angiotensin which is responsible for maintaining your blood pressure. Angiotensin also causes release of another chemical, called Aldosterone which is also involved in maintaining your blood pressure. Together, this system of inter-related chemicals is called Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System (RAAS).  If RAAS becomes overactive, it causes high blood pressure (hypertension), kidney disease and heart failure. Now consider this: Vitamin D inhibits RAAS, and therefore, it can prevent hypertension, kidney disease and heart failure.
  1. Vitamin D can prevent coronary heart disease through a number of mechanisms which include inhibition of RAAS, reduction in insulin resistance and reduction of inflammation in the blood vessel wall.
  1. Vitamin D affects the normal function of the skin and therefore can be helpful in the treatment of skin disorders such as Psoriasis.
  1. Vitamin D affects the health of the teeth and therefore can play an important role in preventing many dental problems.
  1. Vitamin D affects one’s mood and therefore can play an important role in the prevention and treatment of mood disorders such as depression.

Isn’t it obvious that vitamin D plays a crucial role in maintaining our health?  It’s a breakthrough discovery!  Now we can truly prevent and treat a number of diseases through proper vitamin D supplementation.

“Why hasn’t my Doctor told me about all the beneficial effects of Vitamin D?”

Unfortunately, this exciting new knowledge hasn’t reached the radar screen of most physicians, nor has it reached the curriculum of medical schools. Why? Because no drug company is behind it.  It’s not a drug. It’s cheap and you can obtain it over the counter. Unfortunately, most of our medical research, medical guidelines for practicing physicians and medical knowledge in text books is dependent upon drug companies in one way or another. Sad but true!

It may take years before this revolutionary knowledge finds its way into medical books and physician’s offices. But you don’t have to wait that long. Get involved in taking charge of your health.  Reading Power of Vitamin D is a step in the right direction.

Arthritis information

What is arthritis ?

Arthritis is a general term covering more than 100 different conditions.

The term arthritis literally means inflammation of a joint, but is generally used to describe any condition in which there is damage to the cartilage. Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury. The warning signs that inflammation presents are redness, swelling, heat and pain…

What are the different types of arthritis ?

There are over 100 different types of arthritis.

Osteoarthritis : -

Osteoarthriti also called degenerative joint disease, this is the most common type of arthritis, which occurs most often in older people. This disease affects cartilage, the tissue that cushions and protects the ends of bones in a joint…

Rheumatoid arthritis : -

This is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system (the body’s way of fighting infection) attacks healthy joints, tissues, and organs. Occurring most often in women of childbearing age (15-44), this disease inflames the lining (or synovium) of joints. It can cause pain, stiffness, swelling, and loss of function in joints…

Fibromyalgia : -

This chronic disorder causes pain throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain, stiffness, and localized tender points occur in the muscles and tendons, particularly those of the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips. Fatigue and sleep disturbances may also occur….

Gout : -

When a person has gout, they have higher than normal levels of uric acid in the blood. The body makes uric acid from many of the foods we eat. Too much uric acid causes deposits, called uric acid crystals, to form in the fluid and lining of the joints…

Infectious arthritis : -

Arthritis can be caused by an infection, either bacterial or viral, such as Lyme disease. When this disease is caused by bacteria, early treatment with antibiotics can ease symptoms and cure the disease.

Reactive arthritis : -

This is arthritis that develops after a person has an infection in the urinary tract, bowel, or other organs. People who have this disease often have eye problems, skin rashes, and mouth sores.

Psoriatic arthritis : -

Some people who have psoriasis, a common skin problem that causes scaling and rashes, also have arthritis. This disease often affects the joints at the ends of the fingers and can cause changes in the fingernails and toenails. Sometimes the spine can also be affected.

Systemic lupus erythematosus : -

Also called lupus or SLE, this is an autoimmune disease. When a person has an autoimmune disease, the immune system attacks itself, killing healthy cells and tissue, rather than doing its job to protect the body from disease and infection…

                                                                                                                               And many more…………….

What causes osteoarthritis ?

Osteoarthritis is caused by the wearing out of the cartilage covering the bone ends in a joint. This may be due to excessive strain over prolonged periods of time, or due to other joint diseases, injury or deformity.

Primary osteoarthritis is commonly associated with ageing and general degeneration of joints. Secondary osteoarthritis is generally the consequence of another disease or condition, such as repeated trauma or surgery to the affected joint, or abnormal joint structures from birth…

Predisposing factors to Osteoarthritis of hip

Some conditions may predispose the hip to osteoarthritis, It tends to affect people as they get older and particularly affects joints that have to take a lot of stresses and strains…

What are the symptoms of arthritis ?

There are more than 100 different forms of arthritis, symptoms vary according to the form of arthritis. Each form affects the body differently….

How can a doctor diagnose arthritis ?

Doctors diagnose arthritis with a medical history, physical exam and x-rays of the hip. There is no blood test for osteoarthritis….

Treatment Options

Initial treatment for osteoarthritis of the hip or knee is conservative, consisting of rest, avoidance of vigorous weight bearing activities, and the use of non-narcotic analgesic and or anti inflammatory medications. With worsening symptoms a cane or a knee brace may be helpful.

Treatment of osteoarthritis focuses on decreasing pain and improving joint movement, and may include : -

  • Exercises to keep joints flexible and improve muscle strength
  • Many different medications are used to control pain, including corticosteroids and NSAIDs.
  • Glucocorticoids injected into joints that are inflamed and not responsive to NSAIDS.
  • For mild pain without inflammation, acetaminophen may be used.
  • Heat/cold therapy for temporary pain relief
  • Joint protection to prevent strain or stress on painful joints
  • Surgery (sometimes) to relieve chronic pain in damaged joints
  • Weight control to prevent extra stress on weight-bearing joints…

With hip injury or disease, articular cartilage undergoes degeneration and wears away…

Selection of the optimal treatment plan should be consistent with the degree of pain, the amount of hip disability, and the nonsurgical and surgical alternatives. The individual’s anticipated life span will also influence the selection of treatment….

Arthritis Knee Pain Treatment and Herbal Remedies That Work

Arthritis can affect all the joints in one’s body and it can take many forms. Osteoarthritis is the form that affects mostly the knees. It occurs due to the fact that the cartilage of the joint is degenerating progressively until the end of the bone remains uncover and gets inflamed and painful. Knee arthritis usually hits after the age of 50 and overweight people are more likely to develop it. An improvement in the sufferers’ condition occurs once the weight problem is solved or about to be solved.

Osteoarthritis also runs in the family and it might be triggered by previous injuries in the knee. Its most common symptoms include pain, stiffness and swelling and they become more severe as time passes. Patients can go through periods of relief afterwards they can have a crisis again. The evolution of knee arthritis is not linear. It is very important that the patient seeks medical assistance because otherwise he or she might reach the point when no movement will be possible. Treatment might vary depending on the particularities in each case. Losing weight is essential for slowing down the disease. The physician might also recommend anti-inflammatory drugs and even surgery. However, there are patients using herbal remedies in order to obtain arthritis knee pain relief and studies have shown that these are very effective.

Arthritis knee pain relief can be obtained by massaging the joint with anti-inflammatory oils such as Rumatone Gold. Lavender and chamomile oils are known for their analgesic properties. Warm olive oil is also recommended. Massage and physical exercise is good in arthritis, but make sure to talk to your physician in order to do the right types of exercise and not to jeopardize the heath of your joint even more.

Certain infusions made of plants with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties are also helpful in providing relief for patients with arthritis. Ginger, for example, is very much used by those with osteoarthritis. They either drink ginger tea or apply ginger compresses. This is a safe herb even if it is used for longer periods of time. Licorice has the same effect on the human body as cortisone, only that it doesn’t produce the side effects usually associated with cortisone. The only thing that can result from prolonged used of licorice is a slight elevation of the blood pressure. The recommended dose is of two pills with licorice extract daily. Arthritis knee pain relief can be easily obtained with natural remedies, but the patient has to be aware of the importance of losing excess weight and of exercising.

Arthritis Natural Home Remedies that You Ought to Know

There are thousands of people, if not millions suffering with the crippling condition that is arthritis. There are various types of medication one can take to relieve the pain or to even cure the condition. However in recent years many have steered towards more natural arthritis pain relief, opting to try treatments such as, cod liver oil, vinegar and much more. Here are a variety of different ways one could attempt to relieve arthritis pain, using natural methods.

Hot Vinegar

Vinegar has many beneficial properties, it has been used for centuries as a pain killer, antiseptic, and it has even been used as a natural cleaning product. When using for natural arthritis pain relief, pour 4 tablespoons in a bowl of boiling water. Make a hot compress with a soft cloth or flannel, place the compress on the effected areas and leave there for a 5-10 minutes. This should give you some temporary pain relief. This treatment is best carried out before going to bed.

As well as using the usual variety of malt vinegar you can also try apple cider vinegar. With this you have to add 2 teaspoons to a glass of hot water, plus 2 teaspoons of honey. Once you have done this, drink it followed by a glass of plain warm water. You can do this 2 or 3 times a day. This is also known to bring temporary pain relief.

Epsom Salt

This is a very common form of natural arthritis pain relief, the method is simple but you should get some very good results. Run yourself a bath, as you normally would, add 5 or 6 handfuls of Epsom salt and allow it to dissolve into the water. Soak in the bath for half an hour or more, you can do this morning and night. This should give you some pain relief as it helps lubricate the joints. It also acts an anti inflammatory.

Garlic

Garlic is one of the most powerful natural remedies, it can be taken in various forms, however these are just a couple of ways you could use it for natural arthritis pain relief.

Compress

Cut 5 or 6 cloves of garlic into small pieces, and mix with 2 or 3 teaspoons of warm water. Take a piece of muslin or cheesecloth and place the mixture inside it. Wrap it up with some string or an old piece of fabric. Make sure it is really tight so none of the garlic can seep out. You can then proceed to put the compress into the microwave. Heat it up for about 30 seconds, once it is done place the compress on the effected areas.

Garlic shot

You can make a small garlic shot, which is very effective when it comes to short term relief. All you have to do is, crush about 5 or 6 cloves of garlic and boil them in some hot water. Take the whole mixture and blend it for about 10 seconds. You can either drink it with the garlic pieces in it or to make it smooth, you can sieve it. The important thing with this remedy is that you must drink it quickly. This will give you fast effective pain relief.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is very important for your general health, but if you suffer from arthritis, it is even more vital that you keep your body hydrated. You can do this by consuming at least 8 large glasses of water throughout the day.

There we have it, a list of natural arthritis pain relief remedies, there are literally thousands of ways you could use nature to relieve the crippling pain of arthritis. As well as using traditional medicine there is no harm in trying some natural home remedies to give you further pain relief.
